Along the same lines, Hodgson (see below) writes that in one clone “only part of the fruits are fingered and the rest are corrugated, lacking in flesh, and contain seeds hanging free in the locules.” There also exists a variegated form. Clearly the CVC accession (CRC 3768) is a standard Buddha’s Hand (no pulp, no seeds, no variegation), but its particular variety or subvariety has not yet been determined.

The fingered citron is well known and highly esteemed for its fragrance and beauty in China and Japan.

Prepared by the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection at The University of California Riverside.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0713/5730/1030/files/image_2a901a09-e755-4794-897e-78b7c5f43cd9.png?v=1770636815
soheila-citron-hybrid-budwood
Soheila Citron Hybrid Budwood

Citrus hybrid.

Fruits appear to be large, yellow, with very pebbly rind. Excellent marmalade is easy to make because there are few seeds and it is not necessary to peel the fruit, but it is simply cut into pieces and boiled in a sugar and water mixture.

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange , Citrus macrophylla.

Season of ripeness in the Riverside climate and latitude: February to June.

Prepared by the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection at The University of California Riverside.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0713/5730/1030/files/image_c2d88487-9fe0-4589-9935-7c4939afb076.png?v=1770635959
chironja-grapefruit-hybrid-budwood
Chironja Grapefruit Hybrid Budwood

Citrus hybrid.

Actual origin is unknown but is assumed to be Puerto Rico. "Chironja", although used as a cultivar name, actually refers to a group of apparently naturally occurring sweet orange x grapefruit hybrids originating in Puerto Rico (and possibly other Caribbean areas).

Rootstocks of accession: Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange.

Prepared by the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection at The University of California Riverside.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0713/5730/1030/files/image_46c188b8-01c2-4843-938d-1e72a5bc3923.png?v=1770636731
duncan-grapefruit-budwood
Duncan Grapefruit Budwood

Citrus paradisi.

Parents unknown. Calamondin trees flower and set fruit intermittently throughout the year, adding to the decorative appeal of these trees. A variegated form, with marbled leaves and faintly-striped fruit is sometimes marketed.

Fruit very small, oblate to spherical; apex flattened or depressed. Rind color orange to orange-red; very thin, smooth, and finely pitted, easily separable only at maturity; sweet and edible. Segments about 9 and axis small and semi-hollow. Flesh orange-colored; tender, juicy, and acid. Seeds few, small, plump, polyembryonic, and with green cotyledons. Fruit holds on tree remarkably well.

Tree of medium vigor, highly productive, upright and columnar, nearly thornless; leaves small, broadly oval, and mandarin-like. Strongly cold-resistant.

The mandarin-like Calamondin is the Calamonding of the Philippines, the szukai-kat of southern China and Taiwan, the tôkinkan and shikikitsu of Japan, the djerook kastoori of Java.

Rootstocks of accession: Own root.

Season of ripeness in the Riverside climate and latitude: Year round.

Prepared by the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection at The University of California Riverside.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0713/5730/1030/files/image_410753a2-0185-42ff-b69d-82ddea66f5a2.png?v=1773483508
flying-dragon-citrus-rootstock-seedling
Flying Dragon Citrus Rootstock Seedling

Poncirus trifoliata 'Flying Dragon' are premier, cold hardy and dwarfing rootstocks often used to limit grafted citrus trees to 2m - 2.5m / 6ft - 8ft in height. Carrizo is
often considered identical with Troyer, although separate clones are maintained in many
locations. Characteristics of Carrizo and Troyer are very similar. With most scions, Carrizo provides excellent early bearing of young trees, internal fruit quality is excellent, and fruit size is usually medium to large. Carrizo is vigorous, and develops medium to large tree size (depending on the scion cultivar), or what is often considered “standard” tree size. Carrizo is sensitive to alkaline-induced chlorosis and in some cases trees have severely declined as a result of iron and other trace element deficiencies
on saline, calcareous and especially high pH soils. Another major disadvantage of this rootstock in some areas is the tendency to induce a higher incidence of creasing. Carrizo induces higher acid levels than rough lemon, but while this has occasionally created problems with Valencia, Minneola tangelo, and grapefruit in the cooler production areas, it is advantageous in hot areas. In the absence of limiting disease problems or soil conditions, Carrizo is an excellent rootstock for sweet orange, grapefruit, and most mandarin hybrids. The main advantages of Carrizo citrange are intermediate resistance to Phytophthora root rot, nematode and CTV tolerance, good internal quality, earlier external color compared to Swingle citrumelo, and medium tree size.
