This is an old variety of unknown origin, which belongs to the same group as the blood oranges that include Sanguinelli Moscati. It's of average size (100 to 180 grams) and has a slightly oval shape, easily peeled, smooth skin, tender flesh, juicy, and has particularly pleasant sweetness balanced by good acidity. The Maltese demi sanguine makes it's red blood color on the side of the fruit exposed to more sun, which is where the term \"half blood\" comes from.
