Back to Black Viola is a compact, first-year blooming variety that flowers just 14-16 weeks after seeding. Its strikingly deep purple blooms appear nearly black from a distance, each delicate petal streaked with golden yellow at the center. Plants grow vigorously yet remain compact at about 15cm (6") tall, making them ideal for containers, window boxes, or mass plantings. With regular deadheading, flowering continues prolifically throughout the season. The edible petals add a stunning garnish to desserts. Sow in early spring for summer blooms or as late as July for winter flowers.
Hardy in Zones 5-9.
Perennial.
Average seeds per gram: 1350.
