Maltaise Demi Sanguine Blood Orange Budwood

Citrus sinensis L.

Is said to fully express its full potential grown on the peninsula of Cap Bon. This is an old variety of unknown origin, which belongs to the same group as the blood oranges that include Sanguinelli Moscati. It's of average size (100 to 180 grams) and has a slightly oval shape, easily peeled, smooth skin, tender flesh, juicy, and has particularly pleasant sweetness balanced by good acidity. The Maltese demi sanguine makes it's red blood color on the side of the fruit exposed to more sun, which is where the term "half blood" comes from. Season is reported to be from the beginning of January until late March and early April.
