Top bar honeybee horizontal hives are the oldest and most commonly used beehives in the world.
Top bars allow honeybees to build natural honeycombs like they would in the wild. Naturally shaped honeycombs can be harvested.
Using top bar beehives, beekeepers do not have to lift heavy boxes. Inspections are easier on the body because crouching or bending are not required either.
Bees are less disturbed and more docile during hive inspections as only a small portion of the beehive is opened at a time.
 Honey harvests are much easier, you only need to cut the comb from the top bars, then crush and strain. 
Investments into honey harvesters are not needed, neither are frames or foundations.
