Salvia longispicata x farinacea. Big Blue Salvia is an impressive interspecific hybrid that delivers true blue flower spikes from mid-summer through late October. This show-stopping plant attracted bumble bees and other pollinators throughout our field trials, thriving in full sun or dappled shade. The thick, lush deep green foliage requires no deadheading or special care—it's completely trouble-free. Growing 60–90 cm (24–36") tall, Big Blue Salvia is the first interspecific Salvia hybrid to flower from seed in its first year. Its drought-tolerant nature makes it ideal for beds or large containers. Space plants 40–45 cm (16–18") apart for best results. Grow as an annual, or provide winter protection to enjoy it as a perennial.
