Asclepias tuberosa, commonly known as Butterfly Bush Milkweed or Orange Milkweed, is a hardy perennial that transforms gardens into butterfly havens. Waxy green stems reach up to 70cm (27") and burst with vivid orange flower clusters that attract butterflies and beneficial insects with unmatched intensity, even in urban settings. Unlike other milkweeds, it produces no milky sap when broken. Highly drought resistant, this plant excels in xeriscaping and low-water gardens. The exotic seed pods that follow flowering are easy to harvest, making it perfect for seed collection and garden propagation. Bright orange blooms also provide nectar for hummingbirds. All milkweeds are nectar-rich food sources for butterflies, including Monarchs.
Average seeds per gram: 303.
