Red Russian Kale

Red Russian Kale produces flat, toothed, grey-green leaves with striking purple stems and veins that become more vivid after frost. Its tender leaves are delicious in salads and make attractive bunches; when cooked, their red and purple tones deepen to dark green.
This heirloom variety is known for strong disease resistance. Left to mature, it sends up tall stems of yellow flowers, followed by edible seed pods. Save seed for future sowings, or remove the pods before they scatter to prevent volunteers in the garden.
