Keepsake Apple

Keepsake apples grow on a quite compact with above average disease resistance. Released by the University of Minnesota, Keepsake comes from the same Frostbite x Northern Spy combination that made the successful Sweet Sixteen apples. Keepsake is, in turn, one of the parents of Honeycrisp offering the latter its trademark explosively crisp texture.

Flavor: Distinctive sweet, spicy, nutty, aromatic flavour that resembles sugar cane which mellows and improves with peak fresh eating quality attained by mid winter and lasts till May.
Fruit: Medium sized, irregularly shaped apple with a light yellow, firm, crisp, and juicy flesh.
Storage: Superior storage attributes.
Use: Fresh eating, cooking.
Hardiness: Zone 3.
Ripening: Harvest in mid October.
Pollination: Needs a pollenizer for cross pollination.
