The First Tulip Bulbs
The First Tulip Bulbs
Kaufmanniana Tulip, the water lily tulip opens very wide on sunny days to allow a full display of its inner colours unlike other tulip varieties. This tulip features outermost petals with a different colour than the inside. This vibrantly coloured, two-toned flowers and leaves tulip variety stands out in the garden. The compact, almost dwarf size of the plant allows it to be less susceptible to the elements ensuring its very early blooms to remain pristine through wind and rain. Growing wild on stony hillsides and steppes, this tulip is suitable for rock gardens, beds and borders.
One of the earliest tulips to set flower. Will bloom for many years in the garden. Can be grown for cut flowers.
Plant in full sun to part shade in well drained soils.
Grows in USDA zones 3 to 8.
Height: 30cm - 12’’
