Zantedeschia, called calla lily or arum lily, depending on the species, is endemic to central and southern Africa. The herbaceous, perennial plants with thick underground stems grow in clumps or clusters in marshy areas and is only deciduous when water becomes scarce. Some arum lilies are slightly frost tolerant while species called calla lilies are tender.
