Form

Citrus sinensis.

Fruit is said to be indistinguishable from Valencia and overall perfomance is superior in New Zealand. Fruit mature from November to February; tree is moderately vigorous with rounded bushy habit and a consistently high yield; fruit medium to large; globose to oblique in shape; the rind thick (7-8 mm); moderately easy to peel and segment; flesh orange when mature; moderately sweet (up to 6 seeds per fruit); a good quality late maturing Valencia orange.

This New Zealand variety is a seedling of Valencia with fruit that is indistinguishable from its parent.  The tree is vigorous, large, and productive, and since its overall performance is thought to be superior it seems likely to replace Valencia in New Zealand.

Rootstocks of accession:  Carrizo citrange, C-35 citrange.

Season of ripeness at Riverside, California:  March to July.

Prepared by the Givaudan Citrus Variety Collection at The University of California Riverside.
