White asparagus is more tender than green varieties, with a milder, almost nutty flavour that appeals to discerning growers. This vigorous, all-male hybrid establishes quickly and yields early once mature. It thrives in temperate climates and offers high resistance to Purple Spot disease with intermediate resistance to Rust, ensuring reliable harvests season after season. Blanching is simple; pile soil, sand, or black mulch around emerging spears in spring, or use a wooden box or inverted trash can to keep them in darkness as they grow. Left unblanched, Voltaire produces equally delicious green spears, giving you flexibility in your harvest.
