Cedomon Beneficial Bacteria Seed Coating
Scientific name: Pseudomonas chlororaphis MA342.
Pseudomonas chlororaphis is a beneficial bacterium used as a microbial soil bioinoculant in agriculture and horticulture. It acts as a biocontrol agent against certain fungal plant pathogens via the production of antibiotics.
Many beneficial rhizosphericic or endophytic microbes are used as agricultural amendments to promote plant health. The microbes involved form mutualistic symbiotic relationships to improve plant nutrition, promote plant growth by stimulating plant hormone production. The benefits of the microorganisms extend beyond their capacity as biofertilizers, microbial inoculants can induce systemic acquired resistance of crop species to several common crop diseases by providing resistance against pathogens. Some endosymbionts, bacteria, fungi, archaea or algae, live within a plant or coral for at least part of their life cycle and enhance host growth, nutrient acquisition, improve the ability to tolerate abiotic stresses such as drought and decrease biotic stresses by enhancing resistance to insects, pathogens and herbivores.

Use for:
- Biological seed dressing to control seed borne fungal diseases in cereals and protects seeds against fungal diseases, hence supporting growth and development of young cereal plants up to the five leaf stage.
- Biofungicide suitable for organic and conventional farming.
- Seed borne fungal diseases; Fusarium spp., common bunt (Tilletia spp.), leaf stripe (Pyrenophora graminea), leaf blotch (Pyrenophora chaetomioides), net blotch (Pyrenophora teres), covered smut (Ustilago hordei) and leaf spot (Septoria passerinii).
- Barley, spelt, oats.
- Do not apply Cedomon on de husked spelt seeds.
Mode of action:
Cedomon offers both an immediate and long lasting control on a wide variety of seed borne diseases.
- Cedomon contains a high concentration of the P. chlororaphis strain MA342 bacteria, which produce metabolites.
- After the application of Cedomon, a biofilm is created around the seed.
- The metabolites already present in Cedomon have a direct inhibitory effect on various fungal diseases present on the seeds.
- The bacteria present in Cedomon will stay inactive when the seeds are stored dry.
- After sowing, when water availability increases, the bacteria will become active and will rapidly start to multiply. This ensures that the seeds and first developing roots are quickly colonized.
- Subsequently, the bacteria will start to compete with other pathogens for nutrients and space and continue to produce metabolites. This will further inhibit the growth of other pathogens.
- Furthermore, the bacteria will stimulate the plant to start resistance reactions which, in turn, prevents other pathogens from successfully infecting the young plant.
- Cedomon not only protects the seeds against seed borne diseases. It also empowers the plant to speed up seedling emergence and reduces abiotic stresses, which results in improved crop yields.

Preparation for use:
Seed treatment equipment must be thoroughly cleaned with hot water and a suitable detergent before and after applying Cedomon.
Application:
Wear appropriate protective clothing. Cedomon is offered as a ready to use oil emulsion and must be distributed as evenly as possible on the seed. Closed seed treatment equipment must be used to apply on the seed.
Dosage:
- Apply preventively at a rate of 0,75 L/100 kg of seed.
- Apply Cedomon before sowing of seeds.
- Always check the product label for more information.
Environmental conditions:
Cedomon performs best at 14°C to 26°C / 57°F to 79°F.
Storage:
- Cedomon can be stored for up to 3 months at 4°C to 8°C / 39°F to 46°F or for a maximum of 3 weeks at 20°C. Store in a dry place. Do not freeze.
- Treated seeds can be stored up till 1 year after application without any loss of effect.
