Citrus Macrophylla Rootstock Seedling

Citrus macrophylla seedlings are highly vigorous, fast growing and thorny, commonly used as rootstocks for lemons, limes, pummelo and some mandarins to promote high productivity and early maturity.

• Dwarfing Capability: Very vigorous, producing large trees early on.
• Yield: High quality fruit, high yield.
  
• Cold Hardiness: Best suited for warm, tropical, or subtropical climates.
• Appearance: New growth and flowers display a distinct purple tint. The narrowly elliptical pale green leaves feature broadly winged petioles, similar to a pummelo.
• Grafting: High vigour, rapid production.
• Soil Preference: They thrive in various soils, tolerating salinity, calcareous soils and lime, but are sensitive to frost and require well draining soil, avoiding heavy clay.
• Disease Resistance: Excellent resistance to Phytophthora (root rot) and citrus exocortis. Highly susceptible to Citrus Tristeza Virus (CTV) and Citrus Nematodes. Requires regular de suckering when young to prevent aphid infestations.

Grown as a 12" to 24" single trunk whip with little or no branching. Calliper measures 1/8" to 1/4" diameter. Additional growing time may be required to reach sufficient calliper for your preferred method of grafting.
