Chieftain apple was developed in 1917 by Spencer Beach at Iowa State University and combines the best attributes of both its prominent parents Jonathan and Red Delicious apples. An easy to grow apple tree that crops well, Chieftain is highly resistant to scab and fireblight.
Flavor: Rich, sweet and honeyed taste balanced by a spicy tang.
