The Manchurian Bush Apricot is an incredibly hardy, compact, bush like tree, grown from seed, that grows to be about 3.7m/ 12’ tall. Native to Manchuria in northern China, where temperatures can rise to a blistering 43°C/ 110°F during the summer then plummet to -50°C/ -60°F) in winter, this plant is often used as an apricot rootstock, but is also grown as a pollination companion for other varieties, for its fruit and for the stunning, shell pink blossom display in early spring.
Fruit: The small, plump, golden yellow apricots are quite sweet and juicy.
Use: Fresh eating, preserves and drying.
Hardiness: Zone 2.
Ripening: Harvest in early to late July.
Pollination: Needs a pollenizer.
