Kategorie: Grape Vines

Vitis is a genus of deciduous woody twining plants with wind pollinated inflorescences yielding clusters of botanical berries. Grapevines exist in several coloured fruit with varying acidity content and hardiness ranges. Grapevines usually only produce fruit on shoots that came from buds that were developed during the previous growing season hence the importance of pruning the previous year's growth or one year old wood that includes shoots that have turned hard and woody during the winter, after harvest in commercial viticulture. Grapes are eaten fresh or dried, called raisins, currants or sultanas depending on the plant variety, jam, juice, vinegar and grape seed oil.
