Limonica Predatory Mite

Scientific name: Amblydromalus limonicus.

Amblydromalus limonicus is a species of predatory mites that are effective biological control agents of agricultural pests at relatively lower temperatures. Amblydromalus limonicus is used for integrated pest management as natural enemies of multiple developmental stages of thrips and whiteflies in field plantations and greenhouse crops. Besides performing well in cooler climate conditions and their ability to prey on second install thrip larvae, where many predatory mites and other biocontrol agents are delimited, Amblydromalus limonicus also have a high reproductive capacity and one of the highest predation rates among predatory mites, the adults are active and mobile in their search for food on the underside of leaves, their color can vary depending on the prey they consume.

Use for:

• Generalist predatory mite for the control of thrips and whiteflies.
• Larvae of various species of thrips (first and second larval stages).
• Eggs and larvae of greenhouse whitefly (Trialeurodes vaporariorum) and cotton whitefly (Bemisia tabaci).
• Can be used at relatively low temperatures.
• Especially recommended to suppress high pest densities.

Mode of action:

Predatory mites pierce their prey with their sucking mouthparts and suck out the contents.

Application:

• Turn and shake bottle gently before use.
• Push the centre of the cap to open the dosage hole.
• Carefully sprinkle material on leaves.
• Make sure the material remains on the leaves for at least a few hours after introduction.
• Can also be applied with automated release system blowers.
  

Dosage:

The dosage of Limonica depends on climate, crop and pest density and should always be adjusted to the particular situation. Start introduction as soon as the first pests are detected in the crop. Introduction rates typically range from 50 to 250 per m²/release. Releases should be repeated once or twice, or until control is achieved.

Environmental conditions:

• Amblydromalus limonicus is most effective at temperatures between 13°C and 25°C / 55°F and 77°F.
• Ineffective above 30°C / 86°F.
• A. limonicus is sensitive to relative humidity below 70%.

Storage:

• Apply as soon as possible after receipt. If necessary, the product can be stored for 1 to 2 days.
• Store at temperatures of 12°C to 14°C / 54°F to 57°F.
• Store in the dark and provide ventilation to prevent CO₂ accumulation.

Caution:

• Application of this product can cause sensitization or allergic reactions, take necessary precautions.
• Can be combined with Orius spp. and whitefly paratisoids. Do not combine with other generalist predatory mites like Amblyseius swirskii, Amblyseius andersoni, Transeius montdorensis and Neoseiulus cucumeris.
• Pesticides can have direct or indirect effects on biological solutions.
• Do not use in tomato crops.
• Only use products that are permitted in your country or state and crop.
