Fronteras Short Day Strawberry

Fronteras, bred by the University of California Davis, is an early short day strawberry variety, which means the plants respond to day length, producing the bulk of their large, excellently flavoured fruit of moderate firmness in the shorter days of spring and fall, and are adapted to the fall planting and winter production system of the Californian coast. Fronteras is a large and vigorous strawberry plant, more so than the short day variety Ventana in use for many years by growers. Fronteras strawberry plants are disease tolerant and good for the commercial market.
