Jerseycot Apricot

Jerseycot apricot, with extra late blooming capability inherited from its Persian parent Zard, was released from New Jersey in 1986. The trees of this apricot variety offer outstanding resistance to mid winter thaws, spring frosts and practically all apricot diseases and parasites. Jerseycot apricot is a reliable heavy producer and fruit size benefits from early thinning. These apricots are tender, they need to be picked before they drop.

Fruit: Medium size, orange yellow apricot with a sweet, hint of melon flesh.
Use: Fresh eating, preserve cooked with sugar and dehydrate into dried apricot.
Hardiness: Zone 4.
Ripening: Harvest in mid to late July.
Pollination: Self fertile.
Predominant characteristic: Late blooming apricot.
