Schone van Boskoop or Goudreinnette is a large, beautiful apple tree originating near Boskoop, Holland in about 1856 and grows very well in Normandy, France. A popular commercial apple variety in Europe, Boskoop is recognized for its superior culinary qualities ideal for cooking and baking along with cider making and fresh eating due to its distinct rich, sprightly flavour that has a sharp, clean, lemon tinge. These apples containing a higher phytonutrient content than most apple swill mellow and sweeten during storage and can easily be kept all winter. The vigorous, scab resistant tree is very productive, but often takes a little longer to begin bearing fruit. Boskoop is a triploid apple variety and needs to be planted with at least two different apple varieties that bloom at the same time for successful pollination and fruiting.
Harvest in late October.
Hardy down to zone 3.
