Centaurea cyanus, commonly known as Bachelor's Buttons, produces charming pompoms of vivid blue flowers on fuzzy grey stems. Blue Boy grows tall to 90cm (36"), making it ideal for cutting and drying. Direct sow seeds at intervals from April to June for extended blooms, or plant in October on the Coast. These drought-tolerant annuals thrive in borders, herb gardens, and kitchen gardens, attracting beneficial hover-flies. Fresh petals are edible: tear them into salads, teas, or decorative drinks. Once established, Blue Boy requires minimal water, making it perfect for xeriscaping.
Average seeds per gram: 243.
