Camino Real Short Day Strawberry

Camino Real, bred by the University of California Davis, is an early short day strawberry cultivar similar to Camarosa in all aspects including production pattern, with darker external and internal fruit colour. Camino Real is somewhat later to initiate fruiting with most cultural treatments aimed at optimizing plant health, yield, and fruit quality. Subjectively, Camino Real are large, very firm strawberries with very good flavour, the fruit is outstanding for both the fresh market and processing. Camino Real strawberry plants are susceptible to common leaf spot and sensitive to powdery mildew, however they are resistant to verticillium wilt, phytophthora crown rot and somewhat resistant to anthracnose crown rot and when treated properly show tolerance to two spotted spider mite.
