Gilia capitata, native to western North America from Alaska to northern Mexico, is prized for its striking ball-shaped inflorescences composed of fifty to one hundred delicate blue flowers. Each bloom features a bell-shaped, open throat with anthers that extend gracefully beyond the flower's mouth. Known as Globe Gilia, Blue Thimble Flower, or Blue-head Gilia, this annual thrives in full sun to nearly full shade across various soil types. For optimal growth, plant in rich, moist, well-drained soil and keep consistently damp until established. Once mature, it becomes remarkably drought-tolerant. Perfect for attracting bees and butterflies while adding dramatic blue color to your garden. Height: 30–60 cm (12–24").
