Extremely hardy, productive, reliable, apt for northern regions and uniquely bold in every way, Frostbite apple trees were long known as MN447 while they were used at University of Minnesota to develop new apple varieties before being finally named and released in 2008.
Flavor: The intense sweetness of this aromatic and extra juicy apple has been described as tasting like molasses or even sugarcane.
Fruit: Medium sized apple with dark red skin that has a blueish purple tint and apricot orange flesh.
Storage: 4 months.
Use: Fresh eating, cooking, or cider.
Hardiness: Zone 3.
Ripening: Harvest in early October.
Pollination: Needs a pollenizer.
