Broccoli raab, also called rapini, is grown for its unopened flower buds and delivers a flavor remarkably similar to broccoli with an appealing hint of bitterness. Though more closely related to turnips than broccoli, it's cultivated for its tender stems and leaves rather than as a root crop. Sorrento produces uniform dark green florets approximately 5cm (2") in diameter and is the fastest rapini variety to mature. Harvest the tender stems with a few leaves and unopened flower buds for a reliable, nutritious addition to your kitchen or market garden. Plant in mid to late summer for a cool weather harvest extending well into winter. Plants grow to approximately 78cm (30") tall.
Average seeds per gram: 609.
