Densely packed heads of 10-15cm (4-6") develop on large plants and withstand harsh winter frost from -12 to -19°C (16 to -5°F), depending on wind and snow cover. This cold-hardy variety delays curd formation until after winter frosts, delivering harvests in late winter through early spring.
Start seeds indoors in May or June, targeting 15cm (6") tall seedlings by first fall frost. Transplant by mid-August into well-drained soil in a wind-protected location, spacing plants 60 x 75cm (24 x 30") apart. In spring as growth resumes, apply balanced organic fertilizer around each plant's base and gently work into the soil.
