Pinon is the firewood that gives off the woodsy, piney smell that everybody loves.
Pinon wood, also spelled Pinion comes from dense, slow growing hard wood Piñon pine trees that grow in southwestern North America, known for their pleasant, smoky pine scented wood fires.
The Pinyon pine group yields edible nuts and is know to increase the concentrations of both macronutrients and micronutrients of the soil in which it grows.
Piñon firewood is highly prized for outdoor fires and chimineas for its distinctive fragrance, clean smoke and ability to repel mosquitoes and other pests.
Pinon split logs burn hot and slow, with minimal popping, for a long time.
*The aromatic qualities of Pinyon wood are not used for cooking.
