Pink Oyster Mushroom - Pleurote Rose
Endemic to the tropics where it grows from May to September, Pleurotus djamor has the fastest spawn run of only 11 to 14 days. Add colour to your harvest and extend crop harvest duration by growing several oyster mushroom varieties.
Use grain spawn to colonize a sterilized substrate of your choice hardwood debris, straw, coffee grounds, oats, barley, rye or a combination. Fast to fruit, keep spawn medium ideally in a humid environment away from direct sunlight and plenty of fresh air to prevent carbon dioxide build-up. Keep moist and promote multiple harvests by sealing spent fruiting sites and cutting new ones. Pink oyster mushroom mycelium is noticeably wispy and delicate compared to other oyster mushroom mycelium, medium will not appear to be covered in mycelium. Pink oyster mushroom spawn is temperature sensitive, do not refrigerate.
Pink oyster mushrooms will grow in garden beds from simply spreading grain spawn, covering with mulch and keeping the area moist. The heat loving pink oyster mushroom will not overwinter in cold growing zones.
Harvest pink oyster mushrooms about 4 days after they first appear before the edges of the caps start to curl upwards. Pink oyster mushrooms have a very short shelf life of just a day, use within 48 hours.
Use 10 mL of ink oyster mushroom liquid culture to inoculate 4 lb. of sterilized grains. Use liquid culture within 20 days of receipt.
