Citrus sinensis x Poncirus trifoliata is a highly vigorous, widely used citrus rootstock known for excellent productivity, high fruit quality, and tolerance to Phytophthora root rot, citrus tristeza virus CTV and nematodes. It thrives in various soils, particularly in well drained, sandy soils but performs poorly in heavy clay or highly alkaline conditions. Carrizo rootstocks produce large, vigorous and upright trees and provide good cold tolerance, making them suitable for cooler citrus growing areas and are known to improve fruit size, yield and peel quality.
